The Cost of Being Sick

People often feel that the cost of healthcare is excessive. And while that’s true of insurance premiums, I’d like to challenge the status quo by saying it’s a whole lot more expensive to be sick! Did you know that a chronic disease will cost you $7,900 per year despite your insurance coverage?
Sadly, items “covered” by insurance are often not useful to stay healthy. So many go outside of health insurance coverage to get better care because it’s a must today!
What health insurance carriers call “Preventive” just plain isn’t! What it does is prevent death, maybe; but it doesn’t prevent disease and that’s exactly what we need to prevent today. Once you have a disease, it’s too late! The best prevention is not getting the disease at all. Unfortunately, what is covered by insurance such as a mammogram only detects cancer after it’s there. While early detection prevents death, it doesn’t prevent the cancer in the first place which should be the goal. Why is that?
The items “not covered” by insurance are actually more useful for disease prevention. Testing that looks at cellular levels of hormones, nutrients are much more valuable and proven to prevent cancer, but they are often deemed “not medically necessary” and are not covered. Where’s the logic there? So, what’s the solution? Do the math… According to the CDC, it costs each person $7,900 per year for care related to chronic diseases despite insurance coverage. And that number doesn’t even cover the toll to your wellbeing, mental health, and the impact on your family that disease causes.
Can you afford NOT to obtain Integrative “non-covered” services that are far less expensive than “covered” testing? In my opinion, the time has come for us to take charge of our health and demand to be and stay healthy. The truth is that staying healthy is much cheaper than being sick!
